Aromatherapy
Essential oils have been in use for more than 10,000 years and are even mentioned 188 times in the Bible. They are made from plants and are highly concentrated. It takes about one pound of plant material to get just 1-2 drops of essence (not really oils). The uses of essential oils and herbs are based on common sense and basic principles of natural therapeutics. With pure essential oils and herbs in their complete state you can heal & nourish without the side effects of drugs.
Every organ of the human body works at its own frequency range when healthy. During illness, the body’s frequency drops drastically. Essential oils’ frequency ranges are several times greater than the frequency of herbs, food, and the body. The application of essential oils can quickly raise the over-all frequency of the body or stabilize the frequency of a struggling organ.
Each essential oil’s frequency range affects vary according to the part of the plant it is made from; oils produced from the roots have a lower frequency and make physical changes in the body, oils from the leaves have a frequency in the mid range and affect emotional changes, oils with high frequencies come from flowers and are said to bring about spiritual changes.
A well done blend, one that is mixed in the right proportions, being added in the correct order, can contain oils in all three frequency ranges. These blended oils can bring about changes on all three levels. This is really the only way to make the healing effective and permanent. Essential oils have small molecules that can quickly and easily be absorbed into the body. When applied externally they can act on internal organs. They work through the skin on nearby organs, then on the nervous system, and then though out the entire body.
Ways of Using Essential Oils
Topical/Direct Application – Because of the extremely small and simple chemical structure of the molecules of essential oils they absorb readily into the body through the skin. By using a good carrier oil it can increase the oil’s effect over a larger area and allow the use of less essential oil with the same therapeutic effect.(Nice to be able to use small amounts when using the more expensive oils.)
Directly – Apply the oils on the areas of concern using one to six drops of essential oil in a small amount of a carrier oil. To achieve the wanted results, usually using one to three drops essential oil is adequate.
Feet – Feet have very large pores and so can absorb oils very quickly into the body when applied there. Other areas of quick absorption are behind the ears and on the wrist. Three to six drops per foot/ear/wrist is enough.
Children – When applying oils to infants or small children always dilute with a good carrier oil; 1 – 3 drops essential oil in ½ teaspoon (or more) of a carrier oil will give the therapeutic effect without skin irritation or overdose.
Lotions – Essential oils can be added to commercial lotions. It is best if you use fragrance free lotions that are as simple and pure as you can find. Dump the lotion into a bowl to mix the oil uniformly through out all the lotion.
Layering – This is applying one oil, rubbing it in, and then applying another oil. There is no need to wait more than a few seconds between application of oil because the absorption of the oils is so rapid.
DO NOT MIX OIL BLENDS. A blend has its unique frequency, mixing it with another blend can produce uncertain results. Mixing blends is a complicated process. Professionals lots of times study and practice for several years before they get it right and are proficient at it. Books with good recipes for blending are; The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy , and The Fragrant Mind both by Valerie Ann Worwood, and Aromatherapy Workbook by Marcel LaVabre. He uses some oils that are not easily available and some are very expensive. Applying essential oils onto acupressure or reflexology points, meridians or chakras can help correct imbalances in the body’s energy systems very effectively. There are many good books to show where, how and when to use essential oils this way. Two good books are Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn L. Mein and Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie and Alan Higley.
